Minister Moavero meets with Italian MEPs

Last night, on the fringes of the European Union Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Enzo Moavero Milanesi, met with a delegation of Italian MEPs comprising the Italian Vice President of the European Parliament, Fabio Massimo Castaldo – M5S (EFDD), the Heads of the Delegation of Italians in the Parliamentary Groups of the European Parliament: Mara Bizzotto – Lega (ENF); Raffaele Fitto – Conservatori e Riformisti (ECR); Elisabetta Gardini – Forza Italia (PPE); Laura Agea – M5S (EFDD), Isabella De Monte – PD (S&D) and Tiziana Beghin – M5S (EFDD).

The meeting falls within the context of the regular mutual update, in their respective institutional roles, agreed upon by the Minister and the Italian Members of the European Parliament.

The meeting offered the opportunity for a wide-reaching exchange of views on the most topical issues, especially on the issues on the agenda of the European Council meeting of 21 and 22 March. The points discussed were therefore: Brexit and the relative in-depth debate under way; the relations between the EU and China, ahead of the summit scheduled for next 9 April in Brussels; the European Union’s growth trends, competitiveness and industrial policy, with a specific focus on the interests of Italian companies; the challenges linked to ‘disinformation’, in the light of the imperative necessity to assure an adequate protection of citizens.
