Today the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi Di Maio, will attend the opening of the new office of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP) at the ex Manifattura Tabacchi in Naples. The initiative is part of a project to reinforce the territorial network of CDP in Italy, which has already opened two new offices in 2019, one in Verona and one in Genoa.
The Naples-based CDP office will make it possible to further boost the instruments to support the growth of Southern Italy and to develop a range of products aimed at enhancing the internationalisation of the Country’s entrepreneurial fabric. A Protocol of Understanding will be signed today to this end between Cassa Depositi e Prestiti and ICE-Agency, at the presence of Minister Di Maio. Aimed at further boosting innovation and the growth of Italian companies also at international level, the Protocol especially expedites the “Flying Desk” project which will guarantee the physical presence, once a week, of a representative of ICE Agency at CDP’s local offices. It also provides for the establishment of a CDP desk at the ICE Agency’s overseas offices, to jointly promote events organised at local level and jointly present the products and services offered to companies entering foreign markets abroad.
This cooperative effort – which is facilitated by the transfer of powers over commercial matters to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – will lead to an ever-closer integration of the network that supports the internationalisation of the Italian economic system which today relies on 128 embassies, 80 consulates and 78 offices of ICE-Agency, supported by 12 offices of SACE and SIMEST, the Export Division of the CDP Group.
