Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio met with the Minister of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, Zhong Shan

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi Di Maio, met with the Minister of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, Zhong Shan, on the fringes of the 2nd edition of the China International Import Expo in Shanghai.

The talks focused on the goal of giving new impulse to the two Countries’ bilateral economic and commercial cooperation. To this end, Minister Di Maio illustrated to his interlocutor how the ongoing transfer of powers from the Ministry of Economic Development to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation will entail a closer coordination by the Foreign Ministry of Italy’s economic strategy in the world.

The two Ministers also dwelled on the potential growth of Chinese investments in Italy and committed to spur the advancement in the negotiations to facilitate to the export of Italian agri-food products to China.
