Undersecretary Di Stefano participates to the webinar on intellectual property in internationalization with the Italian Trade Agency (ICE)

Undersecretary Manlio Di Stefano spoke this morning at the webinar “The management of the intellectual property in internationalization processes”, within the cycle of virtual meetings “Live training” organized by the Italian Trade Agency for Italian companies.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” said the Undersecretary, “through its diplomatic-consular network and ICE offices, acts to protect Italian companies also in the complex field of intellectual property protection, most recently through the tools made available by the Export Pact, signed by Minister Di Maio last June 8.

“In fact,” continued the Undersecretary, “companies that make intensive use of intellectual property rights generate almost half of Italy’s GDP and guarantee almost a third of jobs. For a country with such a strong export vocation, such as Italy, companies must reduce the risk of losing foreign market share due to counterfeiting, Italian sounding and theft of intellectual property, in the form of trademarks, copyrights, industrial designs, patents or geographical indications”.

“I am pleased to announce that we will be adding new professionals to our Representations abroad who are most concerned with the regulation and protection of intellectual property at the international and multilateral level, i.e. in Geneva and Brussels, the headquarters of the World Intellectual Property Organisation and the World Trade Organisation respectively, and the European institutions,” the Secretary concluded.
