Undersecretary Manlio Di Stefano participated this morning at the presentation event of the 34th ICE Report on Foreign Trade and the 2020 ISTAT-ICE Yearbook

The event, opened by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi Di Maio, allowed to deepen the guidelines for the economic revival of our country following the effects of the pandemic, paying particular attention to the sectors of innovation, e-commerce, finance at the service of the real economy, support to internationalisation. “We know how much the Italian economy has suffered in recent months,” the Undersecretary stated, “that’s why during the crisis Covid we worked incessantly looking at the economic recovery, until the signing of the now famous Export Pact on June 8th.

Undersecretary Di Stefano also dwelt on the recent acquisition by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of competences in the field of international trade, which make the Foreign Ministry a key interlocutor in supporting the process of internationalisation of companies, also thanks to its extensive foreign network, composed of over 300 branches including Embassies, Consulates, Permanent Representatives and Italian Cultural Institutes, in addition to the 78 offices of ICE Agenzia and the 12 offices of the CDP-SACE-SIMEST Group.

“Thanks to this reform,” Mr Di Stefano pointed out, “since last January, Italian companies have found in the Foreign Ministry a single point of contact for their protection and promotion needs abroad, which is flanked first and foremost by the support offered by ICE Agenzia as the operational arm of commercial promotion policies”.

At the end of his speech, Undersecretary Di Stefano stressed in particular the commitment of the Pact for Export to provide Italian companies with digital tools to support exports, such as Temporary Export Managers or the implementation of a new online platform dedicated to tools for companies that will constitute a “single entry point” where companies will be able to find out more about the numerous opportunities provided by Italian institutions at all levels.
