The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to express its great satisfaction at the appointment of Matteo Mecacci as the new Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR). A prestigious appointment that confirms the excellent qualities of the candidate and the great respect Italy enjoys within the OSCE, where he continues to hold top positions.
The consensual nomination by the OSCE Ministerial Council in Tirana of the four candidates for top positions in the Organisation – to all of whom go our heartfelt congratulations – is an important signal for the work that awaits the OSCE in the coming years.
We renew our congratulations to the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, and extend our felicitations to the incoming Swedish Chairmanship.
