The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi Di Maio, welcomed with great satisfaction the confirmation by the UN Security Council of the appointment of Jan Kubiš to the post of Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General on Libya.
An important appointment that Italy supports with determination, reaffirming its full and convinced commitment to the action of the United Nations, the UNSMIL Mission in Libya and the processes for the stabilisation of the country.
Minister Di Maio also expressed strong appreciation and gratitude for the commitment of the Interim Special Representative, Stephanie Williams, whose professionalism and determination have enabled to make significant progress in all areas of intra-Libyan dialogue, which must now be strengthened and further developed.
