The Italian Cooperation service has allocated a contribution of 300,000 euros to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) in response to the emergency caused in the Philippines by Typhoon Rai (Odette, as it is called locally) with a death toll of approximately 380, numerous people injured and over 600,000 internally displaced people, in addition to particularly relevant material damage and destruction.
The financial contribution shall be used by the Organization to provide relief supplies to the most vulnerable population segments in the Regions V, VI, VII, VIII, X, XI, Caraga and MIMAROPA, with special attention for the so-called WASH (“Water, Sanitation and Hygiene”) health and protection sectors.
With this contribution, Italy reaffirms its friendship and expresses its solidarity with the Filipino people in this time of great difficulty.
