The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Luigi Di Maio, is in Munich today to attend the extraordinary G7 Ministerial meeting organized by the German Presidency within the framework of the 58th Munich Security Conference.
The tension between Ukraine and the Russian Federation will be the focus of the meeting, whose aim is to strengthen coordination in order to relieve tension and achieve a peaceful, sustainable and lasting settlement of the crisis.
At the meeting, Minister Di Maio will inform his counterparts of the content of his talks with Ministers Kuleba and Lavrov during his recent mission to Kiev and Moscow, in which he strongly encouraged both parties to pursue a diplomatic solution.
The meeting will also discuss the Iran dossier and the ongoing negotiations in Vienna to relaunch the JCPoA, whose importance Minister Di Maio repeatedly reaffirmed in order to guarantee stability and security in the region.
Lastly, the meeting will take stock of the situation il Libya in the light of the Country’s latest developments. Unity of intent and multilateral cooperation are key in pursuing a Libyan-led and UN-facilitated political process capable of realizing the democratic aspirations of the Libyan people, while keeping firm the perspective of elections.
