Italy-Turkey: Farnesina Secretary-General has conversation with Turkish Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Faruk Kaymakci

Ambassador Francesco Sequi, Secretary-General of the Farnesina, met today, via teleconference, with Turkish Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Faruk Kaymakci, to discuss bilateral and European affairs, even in the light of the Ukrainian crisis.

During their conversation, Ambassador Sequi and Deputy Minister Kaymakci agreed on the importance of strengthening economic and business ties between Italy and Turkey. They also talked about how to further enhance cooperation in security-related sectors, in the management of migration flows and in the fight against terrorism.

Secretary-General Sequi reasserted how important the Italy-Turkey partnership is, with Turkey also being a strategic NATO and G20 player. Sequi added he hopes the dialogue between Turkey and the European Union can carry on in a constructive manner.

Finally, Ambassador Sequi and Deputy Minister Kaymakci addressed the major regional issues, particularly focusing on the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean.
