Cuba. Humanitarian transport by the Italian Cooperation in response to the aftermath of the fire in Matanzas on 5 August

In response to the growing humanitarian needs recorded in Cuba following the explosions at the Matanzas thermoelectric power plant, the Italian Cooperation has arranged and organized the delivery of humanitarian aid departing from the United Nations Humanitarian Response Depot (UNHRD) in Brindisi. As such, a total of approximately 2.3 tonnes of humanitarian goods (medicines, health kits) will be sent to Cuba to support the Cuban authorities in assisting the victims of the accident and the many displaced persons. The operation is being conducted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in coordination with the Civil Protection Department within the framework of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
