The Italian Embassy in Tehran, in close coordination with the Farnesina, is closely following the arrest of Italian citizen Alessia Piperno by the Iranian police last 28 September.
While the Italian diplomatic delegation in Tehran is carrying out the necessary verifications to shed light on the reasons underlying the Italian citizen’s arrest, the woman’s parents will be received today at the Farnesina by the Director General for Italians abroad, Luigi Maria Vignali. They have been reassured on the attention with which the Foreign Ministry is following the situation and have received the utmost consular assistance, in the hope to quickly clarify what happened and thus solve the case.
