The Secretary General of the Farnesina, Ambassador Ettore Francesco Sequi, met the United Kingdom’s Deputy National Security Advisor, Matthew Collins, today. The meeting took place in the margins of NATO’s “Cyber Defence Pledge” conference.
It enabled the two parties to discuss the key security issues on the international agenda and the opportunities to further strengthen industrial collaboration in the defence sector. The meeting confirmed the sound partnership between Italy and the United Kingdom at the bilateral level and in the NATO framework.
The Secretary General and the Deputy National Security Advisor agreed on the importance of continuing to work together to support Ukraine in the defence of its freedom, independence and full territorial integrity, and of maintaining a position of the utmost firmness towards the Russian Russian Federation. Both parties also welcomed the united and compact front shown by NATO in the face of an unprecedented crisis.
They reiterated their commitment to maintaining their close coordination, including on the deliberations currently under way on adapting the Atlantic Alliance to the new challenges to our collective security.
