Today, at the XV Conference of Italian Ambassadors, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, and the Mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri, presided over the ceremony dedicating a staircase of the Farnesina Building to the memory of Luca Attanasio, the young Ambassador killed in the Congo on 22 February 2021, together with Carabinieri officer Vittorio Iacovacci and driver Mustapha Milambo.
Still today, Minister Tajani also inaugurated, along with Teo Luzi, Commander General of the Carabinieri, the Crisis Unit’s “Iacovacci Room”, dedicated to the memory of Carabinieri officer Vittorio Iacovacci. The room is used do deal with “emergency plans”, where diplomats and the Carabinieri work side by side to protect our fellow nationals abroad.
During the ceremonies, attended by the Attanasio and Iacovacci families, Minister Tajani commemorated the sacrifice of the two officials, recalling with gratitude the women and men of the institutions who serve the country abroad.
