The Italian Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Edmondo Cirielli, received the President of Eritrea Isaias Afewerki this morning at the Farnesina.
The meeting was also attended, on the Italian side, by the Secretary General of MAECI, Ambassador Riccardo Guariglia, and the Director of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), Marco Rusconi. The Eritrean President was accompanied by the Eritrean Minister for Foreign Affairs, Osman Saleh, and the Commissioner of Sport and Culture, Zemede Tekle.
The meeting, which was held on the sidelines of President Afewerki’s participation in the Italy-Africa Summit on 29 January last, made it possible to review all the dimensions of bilateral relations between Italy and Eritrea, starting with economic and development cooperation relations and the situation in the Horn of Africa.
