Italy’s Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Giorgio Silli paid an official visit to Cuba from 18 to 20 March.
During the visit to Havana, the Undersecretary co-chaired with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba Anayansi Rodriguez the 7th Session of the Political Dialogue, active since 2011 and focused on political and economic relations, investment opportunities and the status of negotiations on bilateral agreements.
The multilateral topics addressed included climate change and sustainable development. In addition, there was an exchange of views on major current international issues, including the Haitian crisis, the Russian-Ukrainian conflict and the situation in the Middle East.
On the sidelines of the Session, Undersecretary Silli also held meetings with Cuba’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Vice Minister of Culture Fernando León Jacomin, and Deputy Minister for Foreign Trade and Investment Oscar Perez-Oliva Fraga, as well as a qualified representation of the Italian community active in the Country.
