The Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, will be on a mission to Prague today and tomorrow (30-31 May) to attend the informal meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs in preparation for the NATO Summit in Washington (9-11 July), which will mark the 75th anniversary of the Alliance.
“In Prague, I will present Italy’s priorities, also as the country holding the G7 Presidency – full support to Ukraine until a just, all-encompassing, lasting peace is achieved, without deploying our troops, since Italy is not at war with Russia; commitment to a gradual, sustainable increase in defence spending, while taking into due consideration the contribution Italy gives in terms of men and means to NATO missions; strengthening cooperation with Indo-Pacific partner countries; greater attention to the Southern Flank, which is a strategic priority for our country,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.
The Minister also added, “We want to build a compact, cohesive Alliance that can strongly relaunch its action at the key summit in Washington, projecting itself into the future as a protagonist of peace and provider of stability in the Euro-Atlantic area.”
Later today, Minister Tajani will meet a group of Italian entrepreneurs in the Czech Republic at the Italian Embassy to discuss the opportunities existing in that country for our companies. Afterwards, he will go to Prague Castle for a first exchange with his colleagues. The morning of Friday 31 May will be devoted to the NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs’ working session, which will take place at the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
