As of today, Italy is a member of the Steering Committee of the Expo 2025 Osaka thanks to the appointment of Ambassador Mario Vattani as Commissioner for Italy in the group that will oversee the organisation of the World Expo, scheduled to take place in Osaka from 13 April 2025.
The Steering Committee is made up of representatives from 25 countries participating in the Expo and representing all continents, together with the Japanese delegation and the Bureau International des Expositions. The purpose of the Committee, chaired by the Commissioner General of the Swiss Pavilion Manuel Sachili, is to coordinate and oversee the organisational aspects of the Exposition.
In expressing his gratitude for the position received, Ambassador Vattani said that the appointment “is an important recognition that takes our activity in Osaka far beyond that of Italy at Expo,” adding that “the long-standing relationship and collaboration between Italy and the countries of the Mediterranean, Africa and ASEAN is an added value in the global context of Expo”.
