Undersecretary of State Giorgio Silli made an institutional mission to El Salvador from 9 to 11 July, where he held talks with Vice President of El Salvador Ulloa, Minister of Foreign Affairs Hill, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Mira, and Secretary of Trade and Investment Jorge Miguel Kattan.
“El Salvador is looking with growing interest at relations with Italy, whose 163rd anniversary falls this year,” commented Silli, who noted that the Central American country presents interesting growth margins and potential investment opportunities for Italian companies.
The meeting with Vice President Ulloa provided an opportunity to take a broad overview of Italian-Salvadoran relations and their prospects, while possible synergies in the economic-entrepreneurial field were the focus of the conversation with Secretary of Trade and Investment Jorge Miguel Kattan.
In the meetings with Minister of Foreign Affairs Hill and Vice Minister Mira, special attention was paid to the implementation of development cooperation initiatives carried out by Italy (El Salvador is one of the priority countries for Italian cooperation). Lastly, Undersecretary Silli and Vice Minister Mira agreed on the advisability of convening the third session of the Political Dialogue Mechanism, the main forum for meetings and discussions between Italy and El Salvador, in the coming months.
