The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, expressed satisfaction with the results achieved and the goals reached during the year of the Italian Presidency of the European Schools System, which has just concluded (1 August 2023 – 31 July 2024).
“The education of young generations is a priority for this government; for this reason, I wanted to give particular impetus to the actions carried out by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs during the Italian Presidency of the European Schools,” stated Tajani, who highlighted that “thanks to the work done over these twelve months, we have set the course for future presidencies, starting with the Cypriot one that took over from us yesterday.”
Among the main results achieved during the Italian Presidency are the promotion of a joint reflection on the future of European Schools, in light of the report adopted last September by the European Parliament (Resolution on the System of European Schools: State of Play, Challenges and Perspectives) and the introduction of new tools aimed at enhancing existing best practices, also strengthening the role, training, and exchange of experiences among teachers of European Schools.
“We want to strengthen the role of teachers and the exchange of best practices among European Schools. For this reason, together with the President of the Board of Governors of the European Schools System, Antonio Cenini, we organised the first “Teachers’ Forum” in Parma last April, which saw the participation of 300 teachers and experts in the field,” commented Deputy Prime Minister Tajani, who spoke in Parma on 12 April during the closing session of the annual meeting of the Board of Governors of European Schools.
