Deputy Minister Cirielli receives the Polish Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of the Interior and Administration

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Edmondo Cirielli, met today in Rome with Maciej Duszczyk, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of the Interior and Administration of the Republic of Poland. The meeting confirmed the excellent state of the longstanding bilateral relations between Italy and Poland.

After noting the shared challenges faced by both Italy and Poland, the discussions focused extensively on strengthening European defence in light of current strategic threats. They then turned to migration issues, including within the framework of the Rome Process, and explored effective strategies to prevent and address irregular migration and human trafficking across the Mediterranean, the Middle East, and Africa, while promoting legal migration channels. The two also recognised strong alignment in their approach to relations with African countries, especially regarding migration, development, and the Mattei Plan.
