Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Maria Tripodi, continues her system mission in the Philippines. Today, on behalf of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Tajani, she chaired the 8th edition of the High-Level Dialogue on ASEAN Italy Economic Relations, co-organised by The European House-Ambrosetti and the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry.
“Our economic and trade relations have reached significant levels, yet there is still ample room for growth. Italian exports to the region are approaching EUR 10 billion, a figure that encourages us to do even more to establish and strengthen our presence, particularly in high-tech sectors,” emphasised the Undersecretary in her speech.
Alongside the event, the Undersecretary held productive bilateral meetings with Undersecretary for Industry Development and Investment Promotions Group, Ceferino S. Rodolfo, and Secretary of Transportation Jaime Bautista. In these discussions, she explored opportunities for Italian companies and underscored the importance of finalising the Free Trade Agreement with the European Union.
“The Philippines is a strategic country within the ASEAN region, with which Italy shares relations marked by strong friendship, excellent collaboration, and significant trade exchanges. We will work together to enhance our mutual cooperation, especially in view of the 80th anniversary of our diplomatic relations,” concluded Undersecretary Tripodi.
