The Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs, Giorgio Silli, concluded an institutional mission to El Salvador today, where he co-chaired the third session of the Political Dialogue Mechanism alongside Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Adriana Mira. Several topics were on the agenda, including bilateral relations, development cooperation, regional issues, the reform of the United Nations Security Council, legal diplomacy, the fight against organised crime and corruption, and the hope for high-level participation from El Salvador in the 12th Italy-Latin America and Caribbean Conference, which will take place in Italy next autumn.
During his meeting with the Minister of Infrastructure, Romeo Herrera, discussions focused on potential synergies with Italian companies on key projects, such as the San Salvador surface metro and the Pacific Train. Meanwhile, meetings with the Minister of Culture, Raúl Castillo, and the Minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez, explored opportunities for collaboration in their respective sectors. Throughout the mission, Silli also held productive discussions with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alexandra Hill Tinoco, the Minister of Public Works, Michelle Sol, and officials at the Office of the Presidency.
“Italy’s relations with El Salvador are strong and growing. We share common economic and cultural interests and are closely observing the opportunities that may arise for our businesses during President Bukele’s second term,” commented the Undersecretary.
