Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani will be in Naples and the province of Avellino today for a number of official engagements.
At 11.30 a.m., at Unione Industriali Napoli, the Minister will address the organisation’s General Assembly, which will focus on the key issues relating to the region’s economic and industrial development. The meeting provides an opportunity to engage with the Neapolitan business community on the region’s prospects for growth, competitiveness and internationalisation.
At 2.15 p.m., in the Sala delle Muse at the Prefecture of Naples, Tajani will take part in a press conference on the initiatives organised to mark the 2,500th anniversary of the founding of Neapolis, in the presence of Michele Di Bari, Prefect of Naples and President of the Neapolis 2500 National Committee. The ‘Neapolis 2500’ project aims to promote the city’s historical, cultural and artistic heritage and to enhance its national and international profile, including through the involvement of the diplomatic network and the Italian Cultural Institutes. During the press conference, the programme of upcoming international events will also be presented, including the Mediterranean Dialogues, an initiative organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Italian Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI), now in its twelfth edition, which will be held for the second consecutive year in Naples, at the Royal Palace, from 19 to 21 November.
The day will draw to a close in the province of Avellino, in Bonito, where, at 5.30 p.m., Minister Tajani will take part in the ceremony to name a street after Alfredo Covelli, a leading figure in post-war Italian politics and a member of the Constituent Assembly.
