During his visit to Argentina, Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani presided over the signing of a cooperation Agreement between the Colón Theatre and the San Carlo Theatre in Naples, which marks the start of a permanent twinning arrangement between the two institutions. The agreement provides for co-productions, exchanges of artists and technical staff, programmes for young talent, the touring of productions and joint cultural promotion initiatives. The Agreement, which is initially valid for five years and is automatically renewable, also provides for a Twinning Committee responsible for planning joint activities.
The agreement is the result of the work carried out by the Neapolis 2500 National Committee and forms part of the programme of events marking the 2,500th anniversary of the founding of Naples. Through the Neapolis Fund, the Committee will contribute to the implementation of the first joint activities between the two theatres: the agreement is designed to strengthen the cultural ties between Naples and Buenos Aires over time.
