The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, congratulates Carlo Comporti on his formal appointment as Chair of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), which was approved today by the Council of the European Union. Comporti will take up the post on 1 November 2026, for a five-year term.
“We wish Carlo Comporti every success in this prestigious role. This is yet another success for Italy, and a source of pride that an Italian is at the helm of such a strategic body for the European financial markets,” said Tajani, who had already welcomed the European Parliament’s vote on 15 September.
ESMA, which is based in Paris, contributes to the supervision of the European Union’s financial markets, financial stability and investor protection.
