During his visit to Kazakhstan, which began in Astana with the Joint Economic Commission and continued in Almaty, Deputy Foreign Minister Edmondo Cirielli inaugurated an artistic stele dedicated to Marco Polo in Almaty, on the 700th anniversary of the death of the great Venetian traveller.
The work, placed at the entrance to La Prima building in which the Italian Cultural Institute and various Italian companies are also housed, is made of top-quality granite slabs produced in Reggio Emilia by the Italian company GranitiFiandre s.p.a.. The latter, already present in 100 countries around the world and interested in Kazakhstan, supported the creation of the work, which recalls the historical importance of cultural and commercial exchanges between East and West, fostered by Marco Polo’s travels, and today strengthened in the friendship between Italy and Kazakhstan.
An initiative of integrated promotion made possible by the synergy between the Italian Institute of Culture, the ITA Agency in Almaty and the Fiandre company, with which the Day of Contemporary Art was also celebrated.
Deputy Minister Cirielli also went to the premises of the Italian Cultural Institute – as the first representative of the Italian government – thus seizing the opportunity to visit the photographic exhibition dedicated to Marcello Mastroianni, on the 100th anniversary of the birth of the great Italian actor.
