The program of meetings between Italian and Norwegian publishing houses dedicated to children’s and young people’s literature – organized by the Italian Cultural Institute (IIC) in Oslo, in collaboration with NORLA, the Norwegian body responsible for promoting Norwegian books abroad – ended on September 11.
The initiative was organized with the aim of strengthening the network of relations in the publishing field between the two countries, also in view of the Children’s Book Fair in Bologna in 2026, in which Norway will participate as Guest of Honour.
The project was hinged around a series of bilateral meetings at various Norwegian publishing houses and two events organized at the IIC and NORLA with presentations, interviews, “speed dating” and guided tours.
The opening event, held in the Institute’s premises, saw the participation of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Edmondo Cirielli, on an official visit for bilateral consultations with the Secretary of State, Varteressian. Dr. Bruno Giancarli, from the Research Department of the Italian Publishers’ Association, provided a useful and in-depth analysis of the Italian publishing market in the sector and an overview of the opportunities for supporting translation. The event was also enriched by the intervention of the Italian illustrator Vincenzo Del Vecchio, who performed in a live painting session.
