At 3 p.m. on 5 May, the gym of the American Overseas School of Rome (AOSR) will host the traditional basketball match of the Italian Diplomats Team vs. the US Representatives. The first edition, which took place on 4 February 2016, was aimed at celebrating the visit by President Mattarella to the United States that year, commemorating the close ties between the US and Italy also in the field of sport.
The match, both in the first and second edition, donated the revenue to associations involved in activities promoting social inclusion through sports.
This year’s third edition was extended to include a team of asylum-seekers (Joel Nafuma Refugee Center –http://jnrc.it/), with the intention of shedding even more light on the social function of sport intended as the potent vehicle of integration.
The revenue of the charity match will be donated to the Joel Nafuma Refugee Center.
