Del Re: another 2.5 million for Venezuelan refugees

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Emanuela Del Re, attended the Solidarity Conference on the Venezuelan Refugee and Migrant Crisis in Brussels, co-organised by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, the Director General of the IOM, Antonio Vitorino, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, and by the UNHCR/IOM Joint Representative for Venezuelan refugees and migrants, Eduardo Stein. The conference offered the opportunity to analyse the current state of the extremely serious emergency situation in the South American Country that hosts approximately 150,000 Italian citizens.

The Deputy Foreign Minister stressed the seriousness of the Venezuelan humanitarian crisis and expressed her gratitude to the neighbouring Countries which host Venezuelan refugees thanks to economic and regulatory measures and the solidarity of civil society organisations. Del Re announced that Italy intends to arrange for a further economic contribution of 2.5 million euros, while recalling that Italy has already made a provision of 3 million euros over the last two years.
