Deputy Minister Emanuela Del Re had a meeting in Brussels with the European Commissioner for Crisis Management and Humanitarian Aid, Janez Lenarcic, with whom she exchanged views on the main crisis theatres. Concerning Libya, the Deputy Minister called for a growing commitment of the European Commission on the humanitarian level. In Libya, as well as in other priority areas of our development cooperation, including the Horn of Africa and the Sahel, Del Re and Lenarcic discussed possible synergies and collaborations to contribute to an integrated approach between humanitarian, development and peace; the “triple link” indicated as a priority by UN Secretary-General Guterres. In particular, collaboration in the framework of the European Civil Protection Mechanism and the prospect of a joint visit to the UN humanitarian base in Brindisi were discussed.
During the day, at the European Parliament, the Deputy Minister took part in the presentation conference of the “Opera InCanto” project, promoted by the Italian Embassy in Belgium, for the dissemination of musical heritage in compulsory schools.
