Today, Deputy Minister Emanuela Del Re spoke at the meeting of the National Committee for Development Cooperation (CNCS) chaired by Minister Di Maio. The DM thanked Minister Di Maio for having called the meeting and for the fundamental support he provides to the Italian cooperation system as a whole.
Tjhe DM, who also chaired a session of today’s meeting, highlighted how the CNCS – thanks to the work of all the international cooperation players involved, both public and private, profit and non-profit – plays a very delicate role as a standing advisory council for the Italian cooperation system, as required by its founding regulations, by encouraging strategic thinking and acting.
“The terrible experience of the Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of interconnections and solidarity to help politics grow and develop” – Ms. Del Re said – “In Italy, the CNCS is a major playing field for these interconnections, the place for all-round dialogue within the Government, Parliament, the profit sector and the social services provided by NGOs, which must help us kickstart a new and promising era of collaboration of politics freed from fear”.
“Covid 19 has triggered a truly seismic shift, reminding us that whatever happens elsewhere, even far away from us, can affect our own lives” – she continued – “This means that politics, at all levels, must learn how to develop truly transformational strategies capable of building a truly sustainable future, in accordance with the 2030 Agenda goals. I believe that the pandemic, with its ordinary heroes, its call for individual responsibility, will help us build an even more inclusive, shared and global society for the future generations”.
