Nota Farnesina – Undersecretary Di Stefano

This morning Undersecretary Manlio Di Stefano spoke at the opening of the 3rd edition of Milano Wine Week, the first event in 2020 dedicated to the promotion and relaunch of the wine sector.

“Wine is our best-selling product in the agri-food sector abroad and is still expanding,” the Undersecretary started off. “In 2019 it reached 6.4 billion euros, +3.2% compared to 2018, a trend that we expect to continue in the future, with post-Covid recovery”.

On the forthcoming opening of the “wine table” of coordination between wine-growing and wine-producing associations, the Foreign Ministry and Agenzia Ice, the Undersecretary stated: “I have enthusiastically accepted, together with the Minister Bellanova, the proposal to set up a “Wine Table”, and I am sure that it will be a fundamental operational tool at this stage, just as the Pact for Export had its genesis in 12 sectoral tables last April”.

“We intend, in fact, to use these consultative tables more and more as agile instruments of comparison with the world of trade associations, to chart the way together, with a joint public and private vision,” the Undersecretary concluded.
