Deputy Minister Scalfarotto’s mission to Switzerland

The Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ivan Scalfarotto, has visited Switzerland today. The purpose of the mission is to review bilateral relations with the neighbouring country, following the signing of understandings and agreements in various activity sectors with the new Secretary of State Livia Leu.
The visit has begun with the signing of an agreement on the mutual recognition of radiometric controls of metal products for export. After complex negotiations it will allow more streamlined procedures in this crucial sector of Italian-Swiss trade, to the benefit of operators in both countries.
An exchange of notes has also been finalised between Italy and Switzerland to regulate registrations involving Campione d’Italia.
The talks have focused on health cooperation, the situation of cross-border workers, as well as political and economic-commercial relations.
Both sides have expressed their satisfaction with the cooperation in the field of health. Such cooperation has made possible, inter alia, to ensure the continuity of connections between the two countries and the ongoing exchange of data and scientific information to tackle the coronavirus jointly.
“Relations between Italy and Switzerland are undergoing a phase of strengthening and revival,” Deputy Minister Scalfarotto has said, “and my visit here has the aim of expressing our satisfaction and laying the foundations for an even more intense and structured collaboration, which, in the coming year, will enable us to put in place the synergies necessary to walk the road to recovery together”.
