Deputy Minister Manlio Di Stefano met today Uzbekistan’s Energy Minister, Alisher Sultanov, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The talks focused on the concrete prospects for bilateral economic cooperation, especially in the energy sector, in preparation for Uzbek President Mirziyoyev’s visit to Italy.
We are highly satisfied with the level reached by our economic partnership,” said the Deputy Minister, “but we believe that it is above all a promising opportunity for development in new sectors. Italian companies are willing to invest when the business climate improves, and so greater confidence results in a stronger presence on the territory.”
At the regional level, the Deputy Minister expressed the hope of strengthening relations with Uzbekistan and the Central Asian region. The interlocutors renewed their availability to cooperate in view of the second meeting of the Italy-Central Asia Ministerial Conference in the 1+5 format, after the first meeting held in December 2019 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, inaugurated by Minister Di Maio and chaired by Deputy Minister Di Stefano.
