Di Stefano attends political consultations with Tajikistan

Deputy Minister Manlio Di Stefano held this morning, together with Tajik Deputy Foreign Minister Huseynzoda, the Italy-Tajikistan Political Consultations.

“We attach great importance to relations with Central Asian countries, with which we launched, in 2019 in Rome, on my initiative, the 1+5 Conference, the second edition of which will be held in the autumn of this year” – the Deputy Minister.

The talks focused on various aspects of bilateral relations, trade and investment opportunities, the regional situation in Central Asia and cooperation in the main international forums (UN, OSCE) and in relations with the European Union.

“We believe that Italy can become a bridge for Tajikistan and other countries in the region in relations with the European Union,” Di Stefano continued.

“Connectivity, security and economic development are the pillars of our action towards Central Asia, in the conviction that the prosperity of all depends on a peaceful resolution of disputes and dialogue on the major issues of the future, in a region that, thanks to its position, will be increasingly crucial in the great global trade flows” – the Deputy Minister concluded.
