Inauguration of the exhibition “Un mirabile Inferno. Dante illustrato da Amos Nattini”

To mark the celebrations for the 700th anniversary of Dante’s death, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation presents the exhibition “Un mirabile Inferno. Dante illustrato da Amos Nattini” (“An admirable Inferno. Dante illustrated by Amos Nattini”).

This copy of the monumental edition that the Genoese artist Amos Nattini created in over 20 years of work is preserved in the Central Library of the Foreign Ministry building at the Farnesina and consists of the first 17 cantos of the first cantica, 16 of which are illustrated, along with a number of pre-text illustrations.

Now restored by the Istituto Centrale per la Patologia dell’Archivio e del Libro (ICPAL), Nattini donated it in spring 1927 to the then Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs, Dino Grandi, on the occasion of the initiatives to relaunch the edition.

This exhibition, organised by the Unità di Analisi, Programmazione, Statistica e Documentazione Storica and the Direzione Generale per la Promozione del Sistema Paese, will be inaugurated at the Farnesina on Tuesday 14 September and will remain on display until 28 September.

At 10:00 on 14 September there will be a presentation event in the Sala Aldo Moro at the Palazzo della Farnesina followed by a guided tour of the exhibition. To register to attend, send an email to biblioteca.mae@esteri.it no later than Monday 13 September with Mostra Nattini in the subject line, and your name and surname in the body.

Access will be subject to compliance with the current health & safety regulations, including the requirement to hold a Green Pass.

Participants will be admitted until no further places are available.
