An event dedicated to Africa Day 2013 will be held on Wednesday 29 May in honour of the 50th anniversary of the Organisation of African Unity.

The event, to be held in the presence of President of the Republic Giorgio Napolitano and introduced by Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Michele Valensise, will be opened by Minister for Foreign Affairs Emma Bonino at 10:30.

Other speakers will include Ambassador of the Republic of Congo Mamadou Kamara Dekamo, Ambassador of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Mulugeta Gessese, President of the Kwame Nkrumah Pan-African Center Samia Nkrumah and Commissioner of the Italian Institute for Africa and the Orient (ISIAO) Ambassador Antonio Armellini.

Journalists and camera operators interested in covering the event are asked to apply for specific accreditation no later than 16:00 on 28 May 2013 using the online accreditation system now available at the “Journalists Area” on the home page of the foreign ministry’s website www.esteri.it. Please complete the interactive form provided in the Press section of our web site, to which all required documentation, if not already previously submitted, can be attached in digital format.

If in exceptional cases it is not possible to complete the online accreditation procedure, applications in writing on company letterhead and signed by the director of the organisation concerned—indicating name, surname, date and place of birth, number of a valid ID document and qualification—should be sent by fax to the Press Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (tel. 063691.3432 fax 06.3691.2122).
