ANNOUNCEMENT FOR EDITORS-IN-CHIEF: Exhibition Ireland 404040 – Foreign Ministry, Rome, 13 June 2013, 18.30

The itinerant contemporary art exhibition, “40/40/40”, consisting of works from the Irish State Collection and organised by the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Office of Public Works, opens in Rome at the Farnesina on Thursday 13 June at 18.30.


The exhibition comes to Rome, on its third leg after Madrid and Warsaw, for the closing of the Irish EU Presidency. H.E. Patrick Hennessy, Ambassador of Ireland will be present with the diplomatic corps accredited in Italy.


The works displayed were created by 40 artists under the age of 40, both Irish or resident in Ireland, and represent a range of techniques and media that include photography, drawing, sculpture and painting.


The exhibition’s intention is to celebrate Ireland’s 40th anniversary as a member of the European Union and the important role of young people in designing Europe’s future.
