ANNOUNCEMENT FOR EDITORS-IN-CHIEF: Recall “Farnesina and Touring Club: a worldwide presence for Italy” (Farnesina, 16 July 2013)

On Tuesday 16 July 2013, at 12.00, an event presenting the “Farnesina and Touring Club: a worldwide presence for Italy” initiative will be taking place at the Foreign Ministry in Rome. The initiative has a twofold aim. One is to restore and renew the links between Italy and Italians abroad, from previous and more recent waves of emigration. And the other, to promote tourism by facilitating the journeys of foreign tourists choosing our country as their destination.

To this end, the Secretary General of the Foreign Ministry, Michele Valensise, and the President of Touring Club Italiano, Franco Iseppi, will sign a protocol of understanding to set up a special Touring Club membership category. The “Carta Turistica Socio Estero” (Foreign Members’ Tourism Card) is intended for Italians living abroad and foreign tourists planning to visit Italy. Next Tuesday’s event will illustrate the content of and arrangements for publicising the initiative.

Journalists, photographers and TV crews interested in following the event should send their accreditation application, on their media organisation’s letterhead, by fax or email to accreditamentostampa@esteri.it (fax 06/3691.7193 – tel. 06/3691.3432).

Accredited journalists, photographers and TV crews should enter the Ministry by the main entrance (left-hand side) from 11.30 onwards.
