ANNOUNCEMENT FOR EDITORS-IN-CHIEF: Reminder: Accreditation notice – Award Ceremony for Umberto Eco (Farnesina, 27 September 2013)

A reminder that the ceremony to award the “Gold Medal for Italian Culture in Argentina” to the writer Umberto Eco will take place at the Foreign Ministry at 12.00 on Friday 27 September.


The award is presented each year to personalities who have distinguished themselves in disseminating Italian culture in Argentina.


Organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and by the Italy-Argentina Society (SIA), the event enjoys the patronage of the President of the Republic and support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry for Cultural Assets and Activities, the Embassy of Argentina in Italy and the Autonomous City Government of Buenos Aires.


The ceremony will be attended by the Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Mario Giro; the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Michele Valensise; the Ambassador of Argentina in Italy, Torcuato Di Tella; the President of Telecom Italia, Franco Bernabè; the Vice President of the Italy-Argentina Society, Giorgio De Lorenzi; and winners of the award from previous years.

Accredited journalists, photographers and TV crews should enter the Ministry by the central entrance (left-hand side) from 11.15 onwards.
