ACCREDITATION NOTICE: RECALL -Seminar on “NEXUS: Food, water and energy in sustainable development” (Farnesina, 5 March 2015)

Italian Development Cooperation and ENEA are joining forces to examine, put into practice and publicise at EXPO Milan the most advanced approach to the complex issues involved in sustainable development: “NEXUS”.

A seminar on “NEXUS: Food, water, energy and energy in sustainable development” will be taking place at the Farnesina on Thursday 5 March 2015 at 15.00. The seminar will address the importance of ensuring a consistent, synergistic and sustainable use of water resources and energy for agricultural development, and so for the future stability, security and dignity of each human community.

The event is being promoted and organised jointly by the Directorate General for Development Cooperation (DGCS) and the Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development (ENEA). Its aim is to share the most recent thinking in Italy and the international community: the NEXUS approach, at the cutting edge in global experimentation, offers ample scope for adoption in the wake of EXPO Milan, thanks not least to further events planned by the DGCS and ENEA.

Enrico Giovannini, chair of the United Nations “Data Revolution” group, will provide an overview of development complexities. Other expert speakers, including representatives of the UN’s Food and Agricultural Organisation, will discuss recent advances and experience on the ground, especially on the part of Italy.

The Director General for Development Cooperation, Giampaolo Cantini, and the ENEA Commissioner, Federico Testa, will introduce the proceedings.
