Accreditation Notice: Reminder and Amendment: Africa Day 2015 – “The Role of Energy for Sustainable Growth in Africa” (Farnesina, 27 May 2015)

A reminder that a seminar on “The Role of Energy for Sustainable Growth in Africa” will take place at the Farnesina at 10.00 on Wednesday 27 May 2015 as part of the Africa Day 2015 event. The Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Paolo Gentiloni, and the Minister for the Environment and the Protection of the Land and Sea, Gian Luca Galletti, will take part.

Each year, Africa Day celebrates the birth of the Organisation of African Unity – which in 2002 changed its name to the African Union – in 1963. The event is traditionally celebrated in Addis Ababa, where the organisation has its headquarters, on 25 May, with other events taking place in other capitals in the following days. In Italy, the theme this year is of particular significance in light of the first summit on the post-2015 agenda and the climate change negotiations. Indeed, in our country the Day is more than just a ritual and celebration. Africa Day is also a way of further strengthening Italian-African relations in the dynamic and participatory spirit of the Italy-Africa Initiative.
