On Monday 10 October 2016 at 10:00 am, the International Conference Hall of the Farnesina will host the conference on “The Arctic Council and the Italian Perspective“, with welcome address by Secretary General Elisabetta Belloni and opening speech by Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Vincenzo Amendola.
Organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation together with the Institute of International Affairs (IAI), the National Research Council (CNR) and the Italian Society for International Organization (SIOI), the Conference will discuss, with the help of distinguished Italian and foreign experts, the international cooperation initiatives in the region that have a political, scientific and entrepreneurial relevance for Italy. By focusing on the activities of the Arctic Council, the conference will discuss the ecosystems and the political, economic and scientific opportunities set in motion by climate changes.The Arctic Council, to which Italy is an Oberver, is the preeminent intergovernmental forum for addressing issues related to the Arctic Region.
The Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Benedetto della Vedova will conclude the meeting.
