On Tuesday, 13 December, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m, the Farnesina will host a high-level event on the theme “Fighting corruption, economic growth and the activities of Italian companies abroad”, which will open with remarks by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Paolo Gentiloni and by the President of ANAC, Raffaele Cantone.
The initiative, held concomitantly to the International Anti-Corruption Day 2016, will focus on the relationship between anti-corruption policies and the activities of Italian companies operating abroad, with a view to promoting sustainable economic growth. The role of compliance and of corporate responsibility is increasingly becoming the key to success of Italian companies in the world. The event will therefore highlight the importance of an effective equal playing field for Italian and foreign companies to avoid harming the companies’ image, which could have a negative fallout on the Country’s whole economic system by further increasing the perception of corruption.
The opening remarks will be followed by a round table with contributions by the Chief Prosecutor of Milan, Francesco Greco, the Vice President of Confindustria, Licia Mattioli, the correspondent of Il Corriere della Sera, Fiorenza Sarzanini and economist Sergio Alessandrini, in addition to the Director of UNICRI, Cindy Smith.
The conclusive remarks will be made by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Elisabetta Belloni.
