ALFANO: “200 MILLION EUROS FOR COOPERATION TO FIGHT AGAINST IRREGULAR IMMIGRATION. Objective: Stop departures and suppress trafficking of human beings.” URGENT FUNDING FOR THE REINFORCEMENT OF THE OUTER BORDERS AND THE FIGHT AGAINST IRREGULAR IMMIGRATION. CONFERENCE OF MINISTER ALFANO ON THE OCCASION OF THE SIGNING OF THE “FUND FOR AFRICA” DECREE. On Wednesday 1 February, at 10:30 a.m., the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, will hold a Press Conference on the occasion of the signing of the “Fund for Africa” Decree. “Two-hundred million euros to cooperate in the fight against irregular immigration to stop departures and suppress the trafficking of human beings. With this decree, we have enforced the necessary strategic measures to reinforce outer borders and fight against irregular migrant flows. This is a major and decisive step forward for the Italian government to reach stability and security objectives, both in Italy and Europe,” said Minister Alfano. Minister Alfano will present the guidelines and the reference framework of the “Fund for Africa”, illustrating its contents and aims, together with special programmes to guarantee collaboration of the countries of origin and transit of migration flows, within the framework of a foreign policy integrated action enhancing the centrality of the African continent.
