Press accreditation notice – Signature agreement between MAECI/DGCS, AICS and AIC (Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 19 February 2020)

SIGNATURE AGREEMENT BETWEEN MAECI/DGCS, THE ITALIAN AGENCY FOR DEVELOPMENT COOPERATION AND THE ITALIAN ASSOCIATION OF FOOTBALL PLAYERS – MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS, 19 FEBRUARY 2020, at 12.00 NOON

On Wednesday 19th February 2020, at 12 noon, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will host the signing of the agreement between the Directorate General for Development Cooperation of the MAECI, the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation/AICS and the Italian Footballers/AIC Association to promote sport, and in particular football, as a tool for the correct and healthy psychophysical growth of children, integration and social inclusion within the initiatives financed by the Italian Cooperation.

The event will be inaugurated by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Elisabetta Belloni.

The agreement will be signed by Giorgio Marrapodi, Director General of DGCS, Luca Maestripieri, Director of AICS, and Damiano Tommasi, President of AIC, in the presence of Giampaolo Silvestri, Secretary General of AVSI (technical partner), and the 2006 World Champions Simone Perrotta and Gianluca Zambrotta.

The agreement aims to spread the principles and values of sport through the binomial football – cooperation and the implementation of activities, both locally and remotely, for the training of local teachers, thus supporting the local sports system and contributing to the growth of the territory. The training model is based on the centrality of the child, who through the sport and football projects his or her growth into a socio-cultural dimension based on dialogue and inclusion.

The Memorandum of Understanding supports the “AIC educational model” successfully tested within a pilot project carried out in Uganda together with AVSI, the results of which will be illustrated during the event, together with the announcement of the next countries where the AIC technical staff supported by former players will export their innovative educational model.
