Press accreditation for the launch event relative to Italy’s candidacy to host the 10th edition of the World Water Forum (Farnesina, December 29, 2021, 10 a.m.)

At 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, the Farnesina will hold a launch event announcing Italy’s candidacy to host the “10th  Edition of the World Water Forum”.

The event will be attended by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi Di Maio, the Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Marina Sereni, and the Mayor of Florence, Dario Nardella, as President of the Committee backing the proposal.

Organized by the World Water Council every three years, the World Water Forum is the main international platform for discussion of the challenges and opportunities linked to water (use in agriculture, desertification, rising sea level, access to water resources, distribution).

Italy has submitted its candidacy, offering to host the 10th edition of the Forum in 2024 in the cities of Rome, Florence and Assisi, and the assignment will be announced officially on March 22, 2022, in Dakar, where the 9th edition was held.

In addition to the support of the Farnesina, the candidacy is also supported by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), the Ministry for Ecological Transition, the Department of Civil Protection and the Italian Institute for Environmental Protection and Research (ISPRA). The Italian project was developed by the Promoting Committee, Italy Water Forum, chaired by the Mayor of Florence, Dario Nardella. The final goal was to draft and sign, during the Forum, a “Charter of the Water Renaissance”, restoring a central role to the water resource in the post-pandemic period and at a time of grave climate crisis.

The event will be completely open to the press, which will be able to follow the deliberations from the International Conference Room, where the event will be held.

In consideration of the rules in force relative to social distancing, only a limited number of representatives of the press will be able to access the Farnesina: it will be possible to issue accreditation to a single journalist per publication/agency, and a single cameraman and/or photographer for each publication or agency.

Due to space limitations, only the first accreditations received in order of time will be accepted and their participation will be confirmed. Only journalists with confirmed participation will be admitted to the Farnesina. Anyone who does not receive confirmation of participation will not be able to access the event.

NOTEto access the Farnesina you must exhibit:

  1. certification of full vaccination;
  2. negative outcome of rapid or molecular anti-Covid test made respectively 48 or 72 hours prior to the event
  3. mask type FFP2.

The requirements listed in items 1 to 3 should be considered mandatory.

Journalists, cameramen and photographers who are interested in following the event should request accreditation, no later than 5 p.m. on December 28, as follows:

  • VIA E-MAIL to accreditamentostampa@esteri.it(tel. 06 3691 3432 / 3078) enclosing the digital documentation required (letter from the publication they represent and, for foreign press representatives also a Note of Report of the Embassy in Rome of the country in which the publication represented operates).

On the day of the event it will not be possible to accept any new requests of accreditation.

Journalists and cameramen/photographers can access the Farnesina from the central entrance, left side, from 9 a.m. and no later than 9:45, following control of their temperature, vaccination and test certificate and wearing an FFP2 mask.

The event will be streamed live on the You Tube channel of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
