Reminder media accreditation notice – sustainability mobility event (Farnesina, 6 July 2022)

At 10.30 AM on Wednesday 6 July a sustainable mobility day will begin at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. The event will see the “switch-on” of two new electric vehicle recharging pillars installed in the Cortile d’onore at the Farnesina. The “Emilia 4” four-seater solar-powered car will also be on show to the public. The car was produced by Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna as part of a bilateral scientific cooperation project with Serbia,co-funded by the Farnesina.  During the event the agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and E-GAP will also be signed. E-GAP offers Ministry staff special conditions for electric vehicle recharging using distribution vans, even in the absence of fixed pillars.

Participants at the event will include the Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Manlio Di Stefano, the Director General for Country Promotion, Enzo Angeloni, and the Director General for management, information technology and communications, Nicandro Cascardi.  Undersecretary Di Stefano will take this opportunity to announce the 13 bids for environmental sustainability projects implemented by the diplomatic network in the context of the “Green Farnesina” award, an initiative to promote ecological initiatives.

Morena Falcone, one of the drivers who took “Emilia 4” to victory in the American Solar Challenge in 2018 and the European Solar Challenge in 2021 is also scheduled to attend. Falcone, a research fellow in Automotive Engineering for Intelligent Mobility at the School of Engineering in Bologna, is a key member of the project’s technical staff.

Journalists, photographers and TV crews interested in following the event in person should apply for accreditation by 3:00 PM, Tuesday 5 July, sending their application by email to accreditamentostampa@esteri.it (tel. 06/3691.3432 – 06/3691.8573 06/3691.3078). They should attach a letter from their media organisation and a copy of their identity document. Representatives of foreign media organisations should also attach a Note Verbale from their organisation’s Embassy in Rome.

Accredited media representatives should enter the Farnesina by the main entrance (right-hand side), Visitor’s Room, from 9.45 to 10.15 AM on 6 July, subject to temperature check and with a face mask.
