Press accreditation note – Ceremony for handing the Geronimo Stilton book in Ukrainian language to Ukrainian children in Italy (Istituto Comprensivo “Guido Milanesi” – Rome, 26 October 2022)

PRESS ACCREDITATION NOTE

Ceremony for the handing of the Geronimo Stilton book “A thousand wonders. A journey to discover Italy”, in Ukrainian language, to Ukrainian children in Italy

Wednesday 26 October 2022, 11:00 am
Istituto Comprensivo “Guido Milanesi” – Rome

In 2021 the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation produced, together with Edizioni PIEMME, the book “Mille Meraviglie. Viaggio alla scoperta dell’Italia” (A thousand wonders. A journey to discover Italy), featuring the character Geronimo Stilton. The book – initially produced in four languages (English, French, Spanish and Italian) in collaboration with Atlantyca Entertainment for international editions – was distributed to the Italian diplomatic-consular network as a tool for describing and promoting Italy among children and as additional material for teaching Italian abroad. Publications have also been produced, or are being produced, in other languages: Chinese, Bulgarian, Portuguese and Ukrainian.

In order to welcome the most fragile victims of the ongoing conflict, the Farnesina, collaborating with the Italian Embassy and the Italian Cultural Institute in Kyiv, has decided to hand out some copies of the book, in Ukrainian language, to all Ukrainian pupils in Italian nursery schools, primary and secondary schools, organising a symbolic ceremony for handing out the books in two Italian schools, in Rome and Bergamo.

The first event will take place on Wednesday 26 October 2022, at 11:00 am at the Istituto Comprensivo “Guido Milanesi” (Via Tropea no. 26, Rome). It will be attended by the Director General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy, Pasquale Terracciano, and the Deputy Director General for the Promotion of the Country System, Cecilia Piccioni, representing the Farnesina; the Headmaster of the Istituto Comprensivo “Guido Milanesi”, Alessandro Antoccia, Ukraine’s Ambassador to Italy, Yaroslav Melnyk, and the Coordinator of the “Roma Sud” Group of Civil Defence, Alessandro Angeli. Geronimo Stilton, the mouse journalist very much loved by children all over the world – a brainchild of Elisabetta Dami – will be present too.

Reporters and photo-video operators may attend the event live by applying for accreditation by 4:00 pm of Tuesday 25 October via email, to be sent to accreditamentostampa@esteri.it (tel. + 39 06/3691-3432 o 8573), attaching:

– an identity document;

– a letter by the newspaper/media network they work for, or, alternatively, a press card;

– a Note Verbale by the Rome-based Embassy of the Country of the represented media network (for representatives of the foreign press).

The accredited press staff may show up at the Istituto Comprensivo “Guido Milanesi”, Via Tropea, no.26, from 10:15 am to 10:45 am.

An FFP 2 face mask is required.
